Thanh Nga (1942-1978) was the most well-known actress in Southern Vietnam's Cải Lương opera stage. Thanh Nga first took the stage before she was even 10 years old and, by the time she was 15, had landed leading roles. Renowned for her beauty as much as her graceful voice and dancing, she quickly became one of the pioneering Cải Lương actresses in the country. During her life, she performed in a lot of Cải Lương dramas with many various roles and impressive multi-talented images, earned accolades including the 1958 Thanh Tam Award for Promising Artist. Eight years later, in 1966, she clinched another Thanh Tam award for Outstanding Artist.
After she passed away in 1978, Cải Lương fans and loved ones have dedicated to keeping her memory alive, impassioned to preserve Cải Lương. Most of stories regarding to Thanh Nga actress are so attractive as the harrowing and heroic novels of a beautiful and talented Queen or the glamorized recollection.
